Strategy Courses

IIBD's Competitive Market-Driven Strategies course teaches the principles of strategic planning. Then, using the SABRE™ business simulation, participants apply their skills in a realistic simulated market environment.

This course distinguishes itself from other executive development programs in that it provides a truly engaging experience. Plenary sessions expose and strengthen the strategic concepts while the SABRE™ simulation allows the participants to apply their knowledge in a realistic competitive market place over a period of 8 simulated years. The focus of the program is on the key elements of strategy - portfolio management, market segmentation and positioning. The marketing mix elements - price, product, place, promotion play a prominent yet secondary role.

At the start of the course, participants are divided into teams, each taking over as the management team of a company. Each company faces a competitive environment where similar companies, managed by other participants, compete directly against one another vying for market share and profits. The program immerses participants in the strategic cycle and holds them accountable for their performance. To be successful management teams must effectively manage their product portfolios developing and executing a marketing strategy in the face of uncertain market conditions and uncertain competitive moves.
